Fran Vita-Taylor teaches photography along with writing in her
classroom. She is gratified to share
the art of photography with children, and she has found that the
processes of the two mediums are quite similar. By teaching
the art form of one, she is strengthening the students' skills in the other,
while sparking the imagination.
Fran also teaches with the Telling
Room, a non-profit organization in Portland dedicated to young
writers (www.tellingroom.org). Under their sponsorship, she taught
a workshop to middle school children that
culminated in an exhibit at the Addison
Woolley Gallery.
Please see www.seemywork.org for samples of her students' work. She has also taught photography
in high schools with the Telling Room in their series
of workshops called "Tearing Down the Playground".
